Hey guys, this is a fairly straightforward one but nevertheless the most important and hard to master. I found that it’s always best to learn through examples so in addition to the ones provided in the video, I’ve provided a follow-along template for everyone to practice utilizing the principles in the video.

1. Breathing Room:

  • Definition: Refers to the spaces around the page and between elements within it.

  • Actionable Steps:

    • Allow for generous white space on the page for elegance and readability.

    • Ensure elements like images and text have adequate space to stand out.

    • Respect margins to maintain a clean layout.

2. Repetition:

  • Definition: Involves repeating visual elements to create rhythm and flow.

  • Actionable Steps:

    • Repeat elements like images, colors, or fonts for consistency.

    • Arrange elements in a coherent manner to guide the viewer's eyes.

3. Articulation:

  • Definition: Ensures all elements on the page are clear and legible.

  • Actionable Steps:

    • Enhance contrast and highlight important elements.

    • Use colors and typography to distinguish between different elements

4. Alignment:

  • Definition: Focuses on ensuring elements are visually aligned for clarity.

  • Actionable Steps:

    • Align elements horizontally and vertically to create a cohesive layout.

    • Utilize guides and grids to maintain alignment.

5. Hierarchy:

  • Definition: Establishes a clear order for the viewer's attention.

  • Actionable Steps:

    • Emphasize important elements through size, color, or placement.

    • Organize content logically to guide the viewer's reading path.
